The short answer

Both sides assessed

PowerDMARC compared with Skysnag

PowerDMARC is substantially better value on paper: a free tier for personal domains with 10,000 compliant emails a month, and Basic at $15 a month or $12 billed yearly covering five active domains, against Skysnag's $39 for two. Both cover the full protocol set including hosted SPF, BIMI, MTA-STS, and TLS-RPT. The difference is that Skysnag discovers sending sources and maintains records automatically where PowerDMARC hosts records you still decide about. On domain count and price PowerDMARC wins clearly; on getting to enforcement without an engineer, Skysnag does, and its compliance certification set is broader.

Skysnag compared with PowerDMARC

PowerDMARC is the value option: a free tier for personal domains with 10,000 compliant emails a month, and Basic at $15 a month, or $12 billed yearly, covering five active domains, which is more than twice Skysnag's domain allowance at a third of the price. It also covers the full protocol set with hosted SPF, BIMI, MTA-STS, and TLS-RPT. Skysnag counters with automatic sender discovery and record maintenance rather than hosted records you still configure. On price and domain count PowerDMARC wins clearly; on getting to enforcement without an engineer, Skysnag does.

Choose PowerDMARC if

Small and mid-sized businesses, and the agencies that serve them, that own several domains, want hosted SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, and MTA-STS record management, and would rather pay by email volume than by a fixed domain bundle.

Choose Skysnag if

Small and mid-sized organisations that need to reach DMARC enforcement rather than merely watch reports, especially those with many sending services, limited DNS expertise, or a customer, insurer, or auditor asking for evidence.

Setup timeThirty to sixty minutes to add domains and publish records, then two to eight weeks of calendar time before there is enough report data to tighten policy safely. Hosted records shorten every subsequent change to minutes. An afternoon to point reporting at Skysnag and start ingesting, then two to six weeks of running before a domain is ready to move to enforcement. The calendar is set by how long it takes to see every legitimate sender in the report stream, not by the software.
Learning curveModerate. The dashboards are readable, but the volume-based plan and the hosted delegation model both require a little thought up front, and you still need to grasp the difference between SPF authentication and SPF alignment to make good calls.Low by the standards of DMARC tooling, which is the point of the product. The dashboards are aimed at non-specialists, and the automation removes most of the DNS knowledge the category normally demands.

Strengths and limitations

PowerDMARC

Strengths

  • Five domains on the entry paid tier at roughly $12 to $15 a month is the best domains-per-dollar in the self-serve DMARC field.
  • Hosted SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, and MTA-STS record management removes the DNS bottleneck that stalls authentication work at companies with outsourced IT.
  • Hosted SPF handles the ten DNS lookup overflow without manual flattening, a failure mode most long-lived domains have and few notice.
  • A full year of data history on the entry paid tier, where several competitors give two to three months at similar prices.

Limitations

  • Consumption pricing makes the bill less predictable than a flat plan and harder to compare against competitors at a glance.
  • Everything above Basic is sales-quoted, including API access, multi-tenancy, and unlimited domains, so the self-serve ceiling is low.
  • The free plan is explicitly framed for personal domains and its ten-day history makes it useless for real diagnosis.
  • Hosted records create a genuine vendor dependency: your authentication posture lives in the platform, and unwinding it means reconstructing records in your own zone.

Skysnag

Strengths

  • Automates the hard half of DMARC: discovering senders and maintaining the records, rather than only charting the reports.
  • Handles SPF maintenance automatically, which addresses the ten-lookup limit that quietly breaks hand-edited records.
  • The full protocol set in one product: DMARC, SPF, DKIM, BIMI, MTA-STS, and TLS-RPT.
  • An unusually complete compliance posture for a small vendor, including SOC 2, Cyber Essentials, IASME, PCI-DSS, and the Data Privacy Framework.

Limitations

  • No free tier, in a category where dmarcian, EasyDMARC, and PowerDMARC all offer one for a single domain.
  • Monitor includes only two domains, which is tight for any organisation holding several brand or regional domains.
  • The step from $39 to $249 is the steepest in the category, and buys processing speed and retention rather than more automation.
  • Automated DNS editing is the product's premise, and some infrastructure teams will not delegate record control to a vendor on principle.

Pricing compared

PowerDMARC

Freemium with a consumption-priced Basic plan billed on monthly compliant email volume, plus sales-quoted Enterprise, API, and Partner tiers.

  • Free$0
  • BasicFrom ~$8, about $12 at the 100,000-email step
  • EnterpriseCustom
  • PartnerCustom

At roughly $12 to $15 a month for five domains, a year of history, and hosted SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, and MTA-STS records, Basic is the strongest capability-per-dollar in the self-serve DMARC field. EasyDMARC charges three times as much for two domains, and dmarcian's comparable domain count sits at $240 a month. The catch is the volume meter, which makes the bill less predictable than a flat plan, and the fact that everything beyond Basic is quoted. If you own two to five domains, send predictable volume, and want the record hosting, this is the value pick. If you want a fixed price and a published upgrade path, DMARCLY is the more legible ladder.

Skysnag

Subscription by domain count and report-processing speed, with two published tiers and two quoted ones above them. Additional modules for verification and BIMI certification are sold alongside.

  • MonitorFrom $39
  • ComplyFrom $249
  • ProtectCustom
  • Skysnag SuiteCustom

Against the reporting-only tools in this category, Skysnag is expensive: EasyDMARC, PowerDMARC, and dmarcian all have free tiers and paid plans well under $39 that will show you the same aggregate reports. Against the cost of actually reaching enforcement, it is cheap. The work Skysnag automates, inventorying senders and maintaining records until the policy can safely move to reject, is the part that otherwise consumes weeks of an engineer's attention or never gets finished at all, and a domain stuck at p=none is providing visibility rather than protection. The compliance set is a genuine secondary argument for a small business facing security questionnaires. The weak point is the plan structure: two domains on Monitor is tight, and the leap to $249 arrives sooner than the feature list suggests.

Editorial verdict on each

PowerDMARC

PowerDMARC is the value pick in self-serve DMARC monitoring. Five domains, a year of history, and hosted SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, and MTA-STS record management for roughly the price of a couple of coffees a month is a better deal than anything EasyDMARC or dmarcian offers at comparable domain counts, and the hosted records genuinely remove the DNS bottleneck that stalls authentication projects at companies with outsourced IT. The reservations are the volume meter, which makes the bill less predictable than a flat plan, the sales gate on everything above Basic including API access, and the vendor dependency that hosted records create. Buy it for two to five domains where someone will actually do the vendor-by-vendor DKIM work. Do not buy it hoping to fix spam placement, because it measures authentication and nothing else.

Skysnag

Skysnag is the right purchase when your DMARC problem is that nothing is happening. Plenty of tools will show you aggregate reports, several of them free, and a domain can sit at p=none for years being thoroughly monitored and entirely unprotected. What Skysnag sells is the part in between: it finds the senders, writes the records, keeps them current, and moves the policy to enforcement without anyone filing DNS change requests. For a small business that has been asked to prove its domain is protected, the $39 Monitor tier plus a compliance set most vendors this size cannot match is a short, cheap route to yes, and the published nonprofit and startup discounts make it shorter. Two things should push you elsewhere. If you have DNS expertise and time, PowerDMARC at $12 for five domains or OnDMARC Express at $9 for four give you more domain coverage for less money. And if your estate is large enough to need Comply, the jump from $39 to $249 deserves a hard look at what real-time processing and five-year retention are actually worth to you.
