The short answer

Both sides assessed

Premium Inboxes compared with ScaledMail

The two done-for-you providers here, and the natural head-to-head. Premium Inboxes delivers in hours, publishes volume bands, and replaces failed inboxes without charge. ScaledMail takes two to four business days, adds Microsoft per-domain and SMTP options alongside Google, and includes an ongoing Slack relationship with deliverability specialists. Choose Premium Inboxes for speed and simplicity, ScaledMail for provider diversification and continuing advice.

ScaledMail compared with Premium Inboxes

The two done-for-you providers in this category, and the closest comparison either has. Premium Inboxes is Google-focused with per-inbox pricing from about $3.50, unlimited replacements, and founder-level support. ScaledMail matches the price on Google but adds Microsoft and SMTP options, per-domain Microsoft pricing that gets cheap when filled, and package sizing by sending volume. Choose ScaledMail for provider diversification, Premium Inboxes for simplicity on Google alone.

Choose Premium Inboxes if

Agencies and outbound teams that want provider-account inboxes configured and verified by a person, delivered the same day, with failed accounts replaced rather than repurchased, and that do not need to provision infrastructure programmatically.

Choose ScaledMail if

Teams and agencies that would rather buy infrastructure as a managed service than operate it, want Google, Microsoft, and SMTP mailboxes under one vendor, and value direct access to deliverability specialists in a shared Slack channel over self-serve speed and API control.

Strengths and limitations

Premium Inboxes

Strengths

  • Official Google Workspace and Microsoft business accounts rather than SMTP relays.
  • Authentication configured and verified by a person before handover, which is the single most praised aspect in a large public review base.
  • Delivery typically within six to twelve hours, the fastest among human-configured providers in this category.
  • Unlimited replacement of failed inboxes, which absorbs normal attrition instead of billing for it.

Limitations

  • No public API, which rules the product out for agencies that provision infrastructure programmatically.
  • No clearly published refund policy, with replacement rather than refund as the remedy when an inbox fails.
  • Provider coverage is disputed in public sources, with the vendor advertising Google and Microsoft and at least one independent review describing it as Google only.
  • More expensive than automated provisioning, at roughly a dollar an inbox above the cheapest provider-account vendors.

ScaledMail

Strengths

  • Genuinely managed: domains, DNS, provisioning, and monitoring are handled by the vendor rather than by a console you operate.
  • The widest provider coverage in the category, with Google, Microsoft, and SMTP mailboxes available under one vendor and one bill.
  • A private Slack channel with deliverability specialists included from day one rather than reserved for enterprise buyers.
  • Conservative, published daily sending guidance that is closer to what actually survives filtering than most competitors' advertised ceilings.

Limitations

  • No public API, so provisioning cannot be scripted into an onboarding flow, which rules the product out for automation-led agencies.
  • Two to four business days to deliver an estate, against a couple of hours from self-serve competitors.
  • More expensive per mailbox than automated provisioning, with the gap widening as the estate grows.
  • Pricing is packaged rather than fully self-serve, so comparison shopping requires a quote.

Pricing compared

Premium Inboxes

Published per-inbox monthly pricing in volume bands, with a higher-priced protected tier and an application-only fully managed service at the top. Domains are arranged separately.

  • Start UpAbout $3.50
  • GrowthAbout $3.00
  • EnterpriseAbout $2.80
  • Insured infrastructureAbout $4.50
  • Email control centreAbout $7,500

At about $3.50 an inbox falling to $2.80, Premium Inboxes is priced above automated provisioning and below fully managed infrastructure, which is exactly where it sits operationally. Against InboxKit at about $2.50 with an API, you are paying roughly a dollar an inbox for human configuration, same-day delivery, and unlimited replacement. Whether that dollar is worth it depends on your attrition rate: at ten percent monthly churn on a two-hundred-inbox estate, replacements alone justify the premium. What you do not get for the money is programmability, and that omission, not the price, is what disqualifies the product for automation-led agencies.

ScaledMail

Managed packages sized by monthly sending volume, with Google mailboxes priced per mailbox, Microsoft priced per domain, and an SMTP option priced per domain. Reporting is an add-on and there are no setup fees.

  • Google WorkspaceAbout $3.50
  • Microsoft OutlookAbout $50
  • SMTPAbout $3.75
  • Managed packageFrom about $99

ScaledMail is not competing on price and should not be judged on it. Google mailboxes at about $3.50 sit above InboxKit at about $2.50 and Mailforge at about $2, and the Microsoft per-domain option is cheap only if you actually run close to twenty-five mailboxes under it. What the premium buys is that nobody on your side configures DNS, monitors reputation, or negotiates a delisting, plus a Slack channel with people who do this professionally. For a team without an internal deliverability owner, that is straightforwardly cheaper than the alternative, which is a half-attentive employee and a quarterly incident. For a technical team that would rather script provisioning, it is money spent on labor you were happy to do.

Editorial verdict on each

Premium Inboxes

Premium Inboxes is the fast done-for-you option in cold email infrastructure, and its two real commitments, hand-verified configuration and unlimited replacement, address the two failure modes that quietly ruin outbound estates: authentication that was never actually right, and attrition nobody budgeted for. Delivery in hours rather than days makes it the most practical managed-style choice when a campaign is already scheduled, and the public review record is the strongest in this part of the category. The missing API is the decisive limitation and it is not a small one: an agency that scripts client onboarding should buy elsewhere. Settle the Google-versus-Microsoft coverage question in writing before ordering, confirm what happens when an inbox fails rather than assuming a refund exists, and treat the published volume bands, not any competitor's review, as the price to negotiate from.

ScaledMail

ScaledMail is the strongest managed option in cold email infrastructure, and it is honest about what it is. You pay more per mailbox and wait days rather than hours, and in exchange the domains, the DNS, the monitoring, and the replacements stop being anyone's job on your side, with deliverability specialists reachable in a Slack channel from the first day rather than at an enterprise threshold. The provider coverage is the widest here, and running Google, Microsoft, and SMTP side by side is a real defence against platform risk rather than a feature-list item. Two things decide the purchase. There is no API, so any team that wants to script provisioning should look at InboxKit or Infraforge instead. And the published sending guidance is deliberately conservative, so size the estate from those numbers rather than from a competitor's more flattering ceiling, or the package you buy will be smaller than the program you planned.
