The short answer
Both sides assessedBy the Numbers compared with Metorik
Platform first, then price. Metorik works on WooCommerce as well as Shopify, offers more than 500 filters, and adds reporting, email, and multi-store support, but costs $25 to $250 across typical small-store volumes and does not sync to Klaviyo or TikTok. By the Numbers is $19 on Shopify with an RFM matrix and hourly sync to Klaviyo, Meta, Google Ads, and TikTok. On Shopify with Klaviyo, this app is the better buy; on WooCommerce it is not an option, and Metorik is.

| Setup time | About a minute to install and connect, with the RFM matrix populating shortly after against the store's existing history. Sync connections to Klaviyo, Meta, Google, and TikTok take a few minutes each. | Minutes to connect a store and start the trial, then the historical import, which depends on order count. Segments are usable as soon as the data lands, and audience sync connections take a few minutes each. |
| Learning curve | Low to moderate. The pre-built matrix and reports require nothing, but getting value from the seventy-five filters means knowing what you want to isolate, which is more work than describing a segment in a sentence. | Moderate. The filter builder is powerful and fast but asks the user to know what they want; the AI assistant shortens that for people who would rather describe the segment. Reporting and digests are straightforward. |

Strengths and limitations
By the Numbers
Strengths
- The lowest entry price in the category by a wide margin, starting at $19 a month.
- A genuine sixteen-cell RFM matrix rather than the simplified three-bucket version most cheap tools ship.
- Hourly audience refresh, faster than the daily sync most competitors offer.
- More than seventy-five segment filters spanning orders, products, lifetime value, and acquisition channel.
Limitations
- Almost no public information about the vendor: no named founders, no funding history, no disclosed team.
- Shopify only, with no path for stores on other platforms.
- Segments are built by assembling filters rather than described in plain language, which is slower for non-analytical users.
- No documented public API, so segments cannot be pushed into custom internal systems.
Metorik
Strengths
- Deep WooCommerce support, including plugin custom fields and WooCommerce Subscriptions reporting, which the Shopify apps in this category cannot match.
- More than 500 filters across customers, orders, subscriptions, products, carts, and coupons, with real-time results.
- Every feature, unlimited users, and unlimited contacts on every plan, from $25 a month.
- Automatic billing that follows a three-month average of orders and moves down as well as up.
Limitations
- No native segment sync to Klaviyo, Attentive, or other external email and SMS tools.
- TikTok and Pinterest audience sync are announced but not live.
- No pre-built RFM segment set handed over on install; the value depends on someone building segments.
- More expensive than the Shopify-only segmentation apps once a store passes a few thousand orders a month.

On paper this is the best capability-per-dollar in the category and it is not close: a sixteen-cell RFM matrix, seventy-five filters, hourly syncing, and thirty-eight reports for a starting price under a fifth of what Tresl charges and a third of Repeat Customer Insights. The question is not whether it is cheap, it is whether the vendor is durable, since there is no public corporate information behind an app around two thousand stores now depend on. For a store weighing $19 against not segmenting at all, that risk is easy to accept. For one about to make it the backbone of every audience in Meta and Klaviyo, keep the segment definitions documented somewhere you control.
Metorik
Monthly subscription priced by average monthly orders over the last three months, with every feature, unlimited users, and unlimited contacts on every plan; plans move up and down automatically, and email volume beyond the included allowance is bought in packs.
- Starter$25
- Level 2$75
- Level 3$150
- Level 4$250
- Level 5$400
- Levels 6 to 9$750 to $2,350
For a WooCommerce store the value case is simple: only Metrilo also reads Woo data, at a much higher entry price, and $25 to $150 a month buys a segment builder, cohort and RFM reporting, email automation, and Meta and Google Ads audience sync with unlimited users. On Shopify the comparison is sharper. A store doing 3,000 orders a month pays $250 on Metorik against $19 for By the Numbers or $149 for Segments by Tresl, and both of those sync to Klaviyo and TikTok where Metorik does not. Metorik earns the difference if the store also uses its reporting, profit tracking, email, and multi-store features in place of other subscriptions, since its included email allowance can replace a separate email tool for a smaller store. Against Metrilo, which reaches segmentation at $379 and has no ad sync, Metorik is cheaper at most volumes and does more with the segment once built.
Editorial verdict on each
By the Numbers
By the Numbers is the best capability-per-dollar in customer segmentation, and the gap is large enough that price alone settles many decisions. A real sixteen-cell RFM matrix, seventy-five filters, hourly syncing into Klaviyo and the ad platforms, and a broad reporting layer starting at $19 is not a stripped-down version of what competitors charge $150 for, it is most of the same job done more cheaply and, on refresh speed, done better. Two caveats. The vendor publishes essentially nothing about itself, so keep your important segment definitions written down somewhere you control, and confirm on the App Store listing which tier actually includes the sync before assuming the entry price covers it. For a Shopify store that has been putting off segmentation on cost grounds, there is no longer an excuse at this price.
Read the full By the Numbers profileMetorik
Metorik is the answer in this category for WooCommerce stores, and a credible one for Shopify stores that want a segment engine rather than a set of pre-built segments. More than 500 filters across every kind of store record, results in seconds, an AI assistant to write them, and saved segments that feed reports, digests, exports, email automations, and six-hourly Facebook and Google Ads audiences make it a working tool rather than a dashboard. The pricing is as fair as any here: every feature and unlimited users from $25, billed on a three-month order average that moves down as readily as up, with a thirty-day trial and no card. The gaps are specific. There is no Klaviyo sync, because Metorik would rather you used its own email, TikTok and Pinterest audiences are still to come, and a Shopify store with a few thousand orders pays several times what By the Numbers charges for the audience-sync part of the job. WooCommerce stores should start here; Shopify stores built around Klaviyo should start with a Shopify app.
