Enchant

One plan, $20 a user: a Toronto-built shared inbox with phone, chat, WhatsApp and a knowledge base included

Enchant is a shared inbox help desk from Toronto, publicly launched in 2012, sold as a single all-features plan at $20 per user per month. It brings email, phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and website live chat into one inbox where email replies look like ordinary email, and it includes unlimited inboxes, knowledge bases and chat messengers, a cloud call centre built on your own Twilio account, satisfaction ratings, newsletters and reporting. Advanced security costs $5 per user, AI writing and drafting costs $30 per 500 customers helped, and an autonomous AI agent is in beta.

Overview

Enchant is the help desk for buyers who are tired of tier tables. There is one plan at $20 per user per month, billed monthly, and it includes every core feature: unlimited shared inboxes, unlimited knowledge bases, unlimited chat messengers, a call centre, satisfaction ratings, newsletters, workflow rules, integrations and reporting. The extras are a short list of add-ons with published prices. That simplicity is the product's argument, and in a category where Help Scout, Front and Zendesk all gate features across three or four tiers, it is a real one.

The inbox is built so that customers never feel they are inside a ticketing system. Email replies carry no ticket numbers and need no portal login; behind them, the team gets assignment, private notes, labels, smart folders that update in real time, collision detection, collaborative drafts that a lead can review before sending, scheduled replies, and customer profiles with history and data pulled from your own systems through sidebar apps. Phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram land in the same timeline as email.

The call centre is unusually complete for a $20 tool. You bring a Twilio account and Enchant provides the interface: browser calling, call queues, voicemail with automatic transcripts, warm and cold transfers, call monitoring and whispering for training, and dual-channel recording. Telephony usage is billed by Twilio, not Enchant, which keeps the seat price low and makes call costs transparent, at the price of one more vendor relationship to set up.

AI is sold the same way as everything else, simply. An AI Starter level appears in the base plan, and the Enchant AI Standard add-on, at $30 per 500 customers helped, powers the AI writer, translation in more than 20 languages, summaries, drafts grounded in your knowledge base and past conversations, and suggested labels and canned responses. An autonomous AI Agent for live chat is in beta and free to Enchant AI customers while it is. The honest reservations are scale and visibility: Enchant is a small, privately held company with a light marketing footprint, it publishes no compliance certifications on its own pages, and reporting and automation are practical rather than deep.

Best for

Small and mid-sized teams, from two to perhaps forty people, who want email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp and chat in one inbox at one flat per-user price with no tier decisions, and who value replies that read like personal email over a heavyweight ticketing system.

Not the right fit for

  • Organisations that need a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report before buying; Enchant does not publish certifications on its own pages.
  • Support operations that need SLA policies, skills-based routing and enterprise analytics; Zendesk and Freshdesk are deeper there.
  • Teams that want an AI agent resolving most conversations across every channel today; Enchant's agent is a beta and live chat only.
  • Buyers who want a large ecosystem and community; Enchant is a small, quiet company with a modest integration list.

How it works

  1. 1

Create inboxes for each address, brand or department, all included in the $20 plan, and forward email into them. Customers keep receiving replies that look like normal email.

  2. 2

Connect channels: website chat through the Enchant Messenger, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and phone through your own Twilio account.

  3. 3

Organise work with labels, business rules, smart folders and assignment, and pull order or account data from your own systems into the customer sidebar with sidebar apps.

  4. 4

Publish public or internal knowledge bases on your own domain, searchable from the Messenger so customers can help themselves before writing in.

  5. 5

Add the Enchant AI Standard add-on for AI drafts, writing, translation and summaries, and switch on the beta AI Agent for live chat if you want conversations resolved automatically.

Feature breakdown

28 features in 6 modules

Shared inbox

Email that still looks like email to the customer, with the collaboration tooling underneath.
Unlimited inboxes
Every inbox, team and brand in one account at no extra cost, rather than inboxes rationed by tier.
Looks like email
Customers never see a ticket number and never log into anything; to them it is a normal email conversation.
Labels, smart folders and business rules
Categorise with labels, build real-time queues from labels, state and assignee, and run actions automatically when conditions are met, including email routing.
Assignment, private notes and collision detection
Delegate to the right person or team, discuss privately on the ticket, and get real-time alerts when someone else is replying.
Collaborative drafts and scheduled replies
A lead can review a trainee's draft or pick up a colleague's half-written reply, and replies can be scheduled for a future time.
Canned responses and auto replies
Personalised saved answers, plus automatic acknowledgements and out-of-hours replies.
Forward to third party
Forward a ticket to an outside team and their replies link back to the original conversation.

Channels

Six channels in the base plan, each in the same customer timeline.
Email, SMS and WhatsApp
Text channels alongside email, all in one conversation history per customer.
Facebook Messenger and Instagram
Social conversations handled in the shared inbox rather than in a separate social tool.
Enchant Messenger (live chat)
A website chat widget that also lets customers search the knowledge base or send an email, with transcripts archived to the customer's history and emailed to them.

Call centre

A real virtual call centre on your own Twilio account.
Browser calling and click to dial
Make and take calls from the browser without personal numbers, or have Enchant connect your phone so customers never see your number.
Queues, assignment and voicemail
Multiple call queues, call assignment to teams, and voicemail captured automatically with transcripts.
Transfers, monitoring and whispering
Warm and cold transfers, silent monitoring of live calls, and private coaching to the agent during a call.
Call recording and notes
Dual-channel recording on demand or for every call, and notes before, during or after a call, all in the customer timeline.
Bring your own Twilio
Works with short code, long code and toll-free numbers in every Twilio-supported country; Twilio bills the telephony directly.

Self-service and customer context

Knowledge bases and customer data without an add-on.
Unlimited knowledge bases
Public help centres or internal team knowledge bases, hosted by Enchant on your own domain and design.
Customer profiles and history
Notes, recent tickets and full communication history across every channel on one profile.
Sidebar apps
Show real-time data from your own systems, such as recent orders or lifetime value, beside the conversation.
Satisfaction ratings
CSAT collected on emails sent by the team, included in the base plan.
Newsletters and campaigns
Newsletters in the base plan, and proactive Messenger campaigns for announcements and onboarding in a free beta.

AI

AI writer and translation

AI suggestions
Suggested labels and the most relevant canned responses for each conversation.

Integrations, API and webhooks for a small team's stack.
REST API and webhooks
Build custom integrations and push real-time activity to your own systems.
Reporting and analytics
Volume, response and team reports across channels, included in the base plan.

Enchant imports history from email accounts and other help desks at no charge.

Use cases

3 documented

Ten-person ecommerce support team that takes phone calls

Email, phone and WhatsApp are handled in three different tools, and nobody can see a customer's full history.

Enchant at $20 a user, $200 a month for ten, puts email, calls through the team's Twilio account, WhatsApp and Instagram in one timeline, with order data in the sidebar from Shopify, BigCommerce or Magento and call recording for training.

Services firm with several departmental addresses

Billing, support and onboarding each have their own address and their own way of working, and every vendor wants more money for more inboxes.

Unlimited inboxes and knowledge bases on the single plan, with business rules routing each address, and replies that look like personal email so clients never meet a ticket number.

Team that wants AI drafting without a per-seat AI charge

Agents spend time writing similar answers and translating for customers abroad, but the budget will not stand a $20 per-seat AI add-on.

Enchant AI Standard at $30 per 500 customers helped adds drafts, translation and summaries priced by customers served rather than by seat, and the beta AI Agent can take simple live chats.

Pricing

from $20 per user per month (single all-features plan, billed monthly)

A single plan with every core feature at a flat price per user per month, billed monthly with no long-term contract. Optional add-ons with published prices cover advanced security, AI, and branding removal; telephony is billed separately by your own Twilio account.

PlanPriceIncludes
Enchant$20
per user per month, billed monthly
  • Unlimited shared inboxes, knowledge bases and chat messengers
  • Email, phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram
  • Call centre with queues, recording, transfers and monitoring
  • Satisfaction ratings, newsletters, workflow automation, reporting
  • Integrations, REST API and webhooks
  • Enchant AI Starter

No tiers. Every user gets every core feature, and you add or remove users at any time.

Add-ons

  • Advanced Security ($5 per user per month): SSO through Google Workspace or SAML, IP restrictions, and advanced roles such as Inbox Admins and Restricted Users.
  • Enchant AI Standard ($30 per 500 customers helped): Powers AI writer, translation, summaries, drafts and suggestions. Priced by customers served rather than by seat.
  • Enchant AI Agent (beta) (No charge during the beta): Available to Enchant AI customers; live chat only for now.
  • Campaigns (beta) (No charge during the beta): Proactive Messenger announcements, onboarding messages and promotions.
  • Remove branding ($50 per month): Removes the 'powered by' link from the knowledge base, Messenger and satisfaction ratings.
  • Telephony and SMS usage (Billed by Twilio): You provide the Twilio account; Enchant provides the interface.

Billing notes

  • There is one plan, so the price comparison is simple: users times $20. A ten-person team pays $200 a month for every core feature, including phone, WhatsApp and knowledge bases that rivals often gate behind higher tiers.
  • Billing is monthly per user, with users added or removed at any time and no annual commitment required.
  • SSO is the one capability most teams will want that costs extra, at $5 per user per month as part of Advanced Security.
  • AI is metered by customers helped rather than by seat or resolution: $30 per 500. A team helping 1,500 customers a month with AI would pay $90 for the AI add-on regardless of headcount.
  • Phone and SMS usage is billed by Twilio at Twilio's rates, which keeps the seat price low but means a second vendor and a second bill.
  • Prices are as of October 2026 and are quoted in USD.

Value assessment: Enchant is among the best-value shared inboxes in this category for a small team that needs more than email. At $20 a user it includes things competitors charge tiers for: unlimited inboxes and knowledge bases, a call centre with recording and monitoring, WhatsApp and social channels, CSAT and newsletters. Help Scout's comparable multichannel tier is $45 a seat and Front's is $65; Helpwise's Premium, the nearest like-for-like, is $23 annually. The add-ons are honest and small. What the price does not buy is assurance and depth: no published compliance certifications, practical rather than advanced reporting, an AI agent still in beta, and a vendor too small to be a safe default for a large organisation.

Strengths & limitations

Strengths

  • One plan at $20 a user with every core feature, so there is no tier to outgrow and no feature gating to model.
  • A genuine call centre on the base plan, with queues, voicemail transcripts, transfers, monitoring, whispering and recording, using your own Twilio account.
  • Email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and live chat in one customer timeline.
  • Replies that look like ordinary email, with collaborative drafts and collision detection behind them.
  • AI priced by customers helped ($30 per 500) rather than per seat or per resolution, and an AI agent free during its beta.
  • A 30-day trial and free managed data import lower the cost of trying it.

Limitations

  • No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar certification is published on the vendor's own pages.
  • SSO is an add-on at $5 per user, not part of the base plan.
  • The AI Agent is a beta and covers live chat only.
  • Reporting and automation are practical rather than deep: no SLA engine or skills-based routing comparable to Zendesk or Freshdesk.
  • Telephony requires your own Twilio account, which is flexible but adds setup and a second bill.
  • A small private company with a light public footprint, so references and community resources are thinner than for larger rivals.

Head-to-head comparisons

4 alternatives

Enchant vs Help Scout

from $21/user/mo (Standard, billed annually; $25 monthly)

Help Scout is the more polished and better documented product, with SOC 2 and HIPAA, a stronger Docs knowledge base and a larger ecosystem, from $25 a seat monthly. Enchant puts more in the base price: one $20 plan includes phone, WhatsApp, Instagram, unlimited inboxes and unlimited knowledge bases, where Help Scout rations inboxes and Docs sites by tier and handles phone through an Aircall integration rather than natively. Choose Help Scout if compliance and polish decide it; choose Enchant if channel breadth at one flat price does.

Full Enchant vs Help Scout comparison

Enchant vs Front

from $25/seat/mo (Starter, billed annually)

Front is the premium shared inbox, with the deepest collaboration, workflow and API tooling in the category, from $25 a seat for up to 10 seats and $65 for its multi-channel Professional tier. Enchant covers the same core idea, email that stays email with assignment and collaborative drafts, plus a full call centre, for $20 a user on one plan. A large team that lives in its inbox and needs Front's workflow depth should pay for Front; a small team that needs phone and messaging channels without the tier ladder should take Enchant.

Full Enchant vs Front comparison

Enchant vs Helpwise

from $12 per user per month (Standard, annual billing; $15 monthly)

The closest like-for-like in this directory. Helpwise is $12, $23 or $39 per user on annual billing, with WhatsApp, SMS and calling gated to Premium and SSO to Advanced. Enchant is $20 a user monthly on one plan that includes every channel and a more complete call centre, with SSO as a $5 add-on. Helpwise wins on entry price for a small email-only team; Enchant is simpler and usually cheaper once a team needs phone and messaging, since Helpwise's Premium is $29 on monthly billing.

Full Enchant vs Helpwise comparison

Enchant vs Missive

from $0 (unadvertised free plan for 3 users); $14 per user per month for Starter on annual billing

Both keep replies looking like personal email and both price simply. Missive is the better tool for a team whose work is collaborative email plus internal chat, with personal and shared inboxes in one app, from $14 a user annually and $24 on Productive. Enchant is the better help desk: a full call centre, knowledge bases, CSAT and newsletters at $20 a user. Choose Missive for an agency or ops team; choose Enchant for a customer support team that takes calls.

7 categories

Enchant is a support tool, and a team running it still has 7 neighbouring categories to staff. The pick in each is Userpilot for product onboarding & PLG, Paddle Retain for retention & churn prevention, Trustpilot for testimonials & social proof, Circle for community platforms, Knock for notification infrastructure, Amplitude for product analytics & session replay and Paddle for subscription billing, each the leading tool in that category on published criteria.

  1. Because
Enchant is built for support, not onboarding. Userpilot adds widest feature surface in this comparison set.
    Benefit
New users reach the thing the product is for without a call, and the drop-off shows up in the data.
  2. Because
Enchant is built for support, not retention. Paddle Retain adds free for Paddle Billing merchants.
    Benefit
Accounts at risk surface while there is still time to call, rather than at renewal.
  3. Because
Enchant is built for support, not social proof. Trustpilot adds automated fraud screening.
    Benefit
Real customer proof sits on the pages where people decide, not only on a review site.
  4. CircleCommunity Platforms · Category Leader
    Because
Enchant sends buyers elsewhere for a large ecosystem and community. Circle adds unlimited members on every plan.
    Benefit
Customers answer each other in a space the company owns, rather than in a chat nobody can search.
  5. Because
Enchant is built for support, not notifications. Knock adds agent toolkit and MCP server.
    Benefit
Product events reach people on the channel they actually read, without building a sender for each one.
  6. Because
Enchant is built for support, not product analytics. Amplitude adds two year data retention on the self-serve paid tier.
    Benefit
Feature usage and drop-off are measurable, so a roadmap argument can end with evidence.
  7. PaddleSubscription Billing · Category Leader
    Because
Enchant is built for support, not billing. Paddle adds merchant of record model genuinely.
    Benefit
Recurring revenue bills, retries and reconciles itself, including the tax nobody wants to calculate.

The AI Agent and Campaigns are free during their betas. Phone and SMS usage is billed by Twilio.

Yes. The base plan includes a call centre with browser calling, queues, voicemail transcripts, warm and cold transfers, monitoring, whispering and call recording. You supply a Twilio account and Twilio bills the calls.

Does Enchant have AI?

Does Enchant support SSO?

Yes, through Google Workspace or SAML, as part of the Advanced Security add-on at $5 per user per month, which also adds IP restrictions and advanced roles.

Do customers see ticket numbers in Enchant?

No. Email replies look like ordinary email, with no ticket numbers and no customer portal login.

Can I have multiple inboxes and knowledge bases?

Yes. Inboxes, knowledge bases and chat messengers are unlimited on the single plan, for every brand, department or language.

Is Enchant SOC 2 compliant?

Enchant does not publish a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 attestation on its own pages. Ask the vendor directly if your procurement process requires one.

Can Enchant import my history from another help desk?

Yes. Enchant runs managed imports from email accounts and other help desks free of charge.

Enchant or Help Scout?

Help Scout is more polished and has SOC 2 and HIPAA, from $25 a seat monthly with features split across tiers. Enchant is $20 a user on one plan that already includes phone, WhatsApp, Instagram and unlimited inboxes and knowledge bases. Compliance points to Help Scout; channel breadth at a flat price points to Enchant.

What should I pair Enchant with?

Enchant is a support tool, and a team running it still has 7 neighbouring categories to staff. The pick in each is Userpilot for product onboarding & PLG, Paddle Retain for retention & churn prevention, Trustpilot for testimonials & social proof, Circle for community platforms, Knock for notification infrastructure, Amplitude for product analytics & session replay and Paddle for subscription billing, each the leading tool in that category on published criteria.

What do I pair with Enchant for Product Onboarding & PLG?

Userpilot. Enchant is built for support, not onboarding. Userpilot adds widest feature surface in this comparison set.

Is Enchant enough on its own?

For support, yes. Enchant does not cover retention & churn prevention, testimonials & social proof and community platforms, and its own profile says so; Paddle Retain, Trustpilot and Circle are the tools that fill those gaps.

Editorial verdict

Enchant is the help desk to shortlist when the pricing pages of the bigger names start to feel like a tax form. One plan at $20 a user includes what others spread across three tiers: unlimited inboxes and knowledge bases, email that reads like email, WhatsApp, SMS and social, CSAT, newsletters and a call centre that would be an add-on product elsewhere. The add-ons are few and priced in public, and AI is billed by customers helped rather than by seat. The cost of that simplicity is assurance and scale: no published certifications, SSO as a $5 add-on, an AI agent still in beta, and a small private vendor with little public footprint. For a team of two to forty that takes calls and wants one inbox for everything, it is excellent value; for a regulated buyer or a large support operation, start elsewhere.
