The short answer
Both sides assessedGorgias compared with Re:amaze
Re:amaze is the per-seat alternative for stores that would rather pay for people than for tickets: $29, $49 or $69 per team member, or $59 a month flat for unlimited users under 500 conversations, with SMS, voice, multi-brand and a status page on Pro and an AI agent that includes a per-seat allowance before charging $0.85 a resolution. Gorgias is the better machine for a large seasonal rota answering thousands of order questions, with deeper Shopify actions and revenue attribution. A small, stable team that wants a bill that does not move with traffic should look at Re:amaze first.
Re:amaze compared with Gorgias
Both are ecommerce help desks that put the Shopify order beside the conversation, but they bill on opposite axes. Gorgias charges by ticket, from a $10 help desk for 50 tickets to $360 for 2,000, with 500 seats on every plan above Starter and an AI agent folded into the headline price. Re:amaze charges by seat, from $29, with a $59 flat plan for unlimited users under 500 conversations. A store with a large seasonal rota and thousands of order questions should take Gorgias; a small, stable team that wants a bill that does not move with traffic should take Re:amaze, which also covers SMS, voice and a status page Gorgias sells separately or not at all.
Choose Gorgias if
Direct-to-consumer Shopify stores doing between a few hundred and a few thousand support conversations a month, especially ones with seasonal volume spikes and a part-time or agency support rota, where most tickets are order-status, returns, and exchanges and where the fastest fix is an agent acting on the order from inside the ticket.
Choose Re:amaze if
Shopify, BigCommerce and WooCommerce stores with two to fifteen people answering customers across email, chat, social and SMS, who want order data beside every conversation and a per-seat bill that stays predictable, and very small stores with part-time helpers who fit inside the Starter plan's 500 conversations a month.

| Pricing model | Volume-based subscription metered by billable tickets rather than agent seats, now quoted as a combined price for the help desk plus AI Agent. | Setup time | Half a day to be answering tickets, one to two weeks to be answering them well. Connecting the store and forwarding the support address is quick; building the macro library, the rules, and the help center content that actually reduces handle time is the part teams underestimate. | A working inbox with email and chat takes under an hour, and the Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce app connects order data in a few clicks. Adding social channels, building an FAQ and configuring bots and workflows is a day or two for a small team. |
| Learning curve | Low for agents, who mostly need to learn that the order actions are in the sidebar. Moderate for the person who owns the account, because Rules, Macros, Views, and AI Guidance interact, and a badly written auto-reply Rule can make otherwise free tickets billable. | Low for agents, who get a conventional shared inbox with the order in the sidebar. Moderate for whoever builds custom bots, workflows and multi-brand setups. |

Strengths and limitations
Gorgias
Strengths
- The only mainstream help desk that does not price by seat above the entry tiers, which is a structural advantage for stores with seasonal, part-time, or agency support staffing.
- Shopify actions inside the ticket are the real product. Refunding, cancelling, and editing orders without leaving the conversation removes the tab-switching that is most of the actual work in ecommerce support.
- Revenue statistics attribute sales back to support conversations, which is the single most useful reporting feature in this category and is not offered by Help Scout, Freshdesk, or Front.
- Honest AI billing boundary: you are charged for a conversation the AI resolves or for the human ticket it becomes, not for both.
Limitations
- The AI Agent requires Shopify. BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, and WooCommerce merchants get the 2022 help desk while paying for a company whose entire current positioning is the AI.
- Two meters running at once makes the bill hard to forecast, and voice and SMS add two more. Budgeting for Gorgias is a modelling exercise, not a line item.
- The three-seat cap on Starter quietly undermines the marketing claim of never charging per agent, and the fourth seat means moving to Basic. Gorgias lifted Basic to 500 seats in 2026, so the old $60 to $360 jump for a fourth agent has gone.
- Nothing here fits non-commerce businesses. Strip out the order object and you have an ordinary shared inbox priced against a commerce feature set you cannot use.
Re:amaze
Strengths
- The Starter plan, $59 a month flat for unlimited team members, is one of the cheapest legitimate ways to put a full help desk in front of a small store.
- Genuinely broad channel coverage for the price: email, chat, Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp, SMS and voice in one inbox, with unlimited inboxes and social channels on every plan.
- Ecommerce context is native, with Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Stripe order data beside the conversation and a prebuilt order bot.
- AI is metered with an included allowance per seat and a $0.85 overage, gentler than Intercom's $0.99 or Help Scout's $0.75 with no allowance.
Limitations
- Reporting, routing and SLA management are a tier below Zendesk and Freshdesk, so a process-heavy support operation will outgrow it.
- Security and compliance documentation is sparse on the vendor's own site; SOC 2, ISO 27001 and data residency answers have to be requested.
- Staff management features (departments, roles, shifts, CSAT) are reserved for Plus at $69 a seat, which pushes a team that needs any one of them up two tiers.
- SMS and voice start at Pro, so the cheapest plans are email, chat and social only.

For a Shopify store doing 1,000 to 3,000 tickets a month with a fluctuating agent count, Gorgias remains the best-priced serious help desk on the market: the help desk component of Pro is $360 a month with 500 seats, which beats six or eight Help Scout seats plus a Shopify connector, and the order actions save real minutes per ticket. Two things changed in 2026 and both matter to the arithmetic. The AI Agent is now part of the headline price rather than a separate purchase, which makes Gorgias look more expensive at a glance and is genuinely cheaper for anyone who was going to buy it anyway: $30 a month on Basic replaces what used to be quoted as a commitment of a few hundred. And the Pro and Advanced overage rate is $36 per 100 tickets rather than $0.25 a ticket, so the penalty for outgrowing an allowance is 44 percent steeper than our previous figure. Below about 300 tickets a month the whole calculation still inverts, because you are paying a platform fee to answer a volume that a shared inbox handles for nothing.

- Starter$59
- Basic$29
- Pro$49
- Plus$69
For an ecommerce team, Re:amaze is good value at every tier and exceptional value on Starter. Basic at $29 a seat includes unlimited inboxes, chat, social, chatbots, an FAQ centre and an AI agent with an allowance, which is more channel coverage than Help Scout's $25 Standard seat; Pro at $49 adds SMS, voice, multi-brand and a status page that would otherwise be separate subscriptions. Against Gorgias the trade is seats versus tickets: Gorgias wins for a large seasonal rota answering thousands of order questions, Re:amaze wins for a small, stable team that wants a per-seat bill. The AI pricing is the gentlest metered model among the big names, $0.85 after a per-seat allowance. What you give up is depth and assurance: reporting, routing and SLA tooling are lighter than Zendesk or Freshdesk, and the security documentation is thin for a product with a public company behind it.
Editorial verdict on each
Gorgias
Gorgias is the right answer for Shopify stores and close to the wrong answer for everyone else. The ticket meter and the 500 seats on every plan above Starter genuinely suit a support team whose headcount moves with the season, the order actions inside the ticket save minutes on every conversation that a general help desk cannot, and revenue attribution is the only reporting feature in this bracket that lets a support lead argue in the language finance speaks. What has to be modelled before you buy is the second meter: at $0.85 to $1.00 a resolution beyond a small bundled allowance, the AI Agent can cost more than the help desk itself, and it does not run on BigCommerce or Magento at all, which makes the 2026 marketing story inapplicable to a meaningful chunk of the addressable market. Buy it if you are on Shopify, doing more than a few hundred tickets a month, and willing to judge the AI component on its own business case even though it now arrives bundled in the plan price. Skip it if your customers do not have order numbers, if your volume is small enough that a shared Gmail still works, or if a variable invoice is something your finance team will not tolerate.

Re:amaze is the sensible help desk for a small ecommerce team that answers customers everywhere rather than mostly by email. The per-seat prices are fair, the channel coverage on Basic is wider than most rivals charge for, the order context is native, and the AI is metered more kindly than at Intercom or Help Scout, with a per-seat allowance before $0.85 a resolution. The Starter plan deserves attention from every tiny store: $59 a month for unlimited helpers is close to the cheapest real help desk on the market. The reservations are depth and assurance. Reporting, routing and SLAs are lighter than Zendesk's, the staff-management features sit on the $69 tier, and the security documentation is thin for a GoDaddy product. Buy it if you run a store with two to fifteen people on support; look at Gorgias if you run a large seasonal operation, and at Zendesk if support is a department with process to enforce.
