The short answer
Both sides assessedPeel Insights compared with Putler
Putler is the low-cost, multi-channel alternative to Peel for small sellers: $20 a month under $10,000 in revenue against Peel's $179 annual-rate entry, with RFM segments and payment gateway and marketplace data Peel does not read. Peel stays far ahead on cohort analysis, subscription analytics, and audience sends to Klaviyo, Attentive, and Facebook, so brands with real order volume and a Klaviyo program belong on Peel.
Putler compared with Peel Insights
Peel is a retention analytics platform from $179 a month on the annual rate, with 38 cohort analyses and audiences sent to Klaviyo, Attentive, and Facebook for Shopify and Amazon brands. Putler starts at $20, is far lighter on cohort analysis and activation, and reaches payment gateways and marketplaces Peel does not. Brands with real order volume and a Klaviyo program belong on Peel; small multi-channel sellers will get most of what they need from Putler at a tenth of the price.
Choose Peel Insights if
Shopify and Amazon brands with several thousand orders a month, especially subscription and consumable brands, that want retention analytics across store, subscription, email, and ad data in one place and a way to turn any analysis into an audience for Klaviyo, Attentive, or Meta.
Choose Putler if
Small online businesses that sell across more than one store, marketplace, or payment gateway, including digital product and subscription sellers, and want one clean customer list with automatic RFM segments and CSV or Mailchimp export, at a price that starts at $20 a month for businesses under $10,000 in monthly revenue.

| Setup time | Connecting the store and tools takes minutes, and the vendor says dashboards are ready within 24 hours, after which the seven-day trial starts. RFM segments and audiences are usable the same day the data lands. | The vendor says connecting accounts takes 10 to 15 minutes. Import and processing follow, and the RFM chart appears once processing finishes; a redraw takes about 90 minutes according to the help center. |
| Learning curve | Moderate. The pre-built dashboards and RFM home page are immediately readable, but getting value from 38 cohort analyses, audience types, and attribution requires someone who thinks about retention for a living. Monthly product training starts on the Essentials plan. | Low. RFM segments are ready without configuration and the dashboards need no setup; filters, saved segments, and drilldowns take a little exploration. |

Strengths and limitations
Peel Insights
Strengths
- RFM segments on the home page and audiences created directly from any of 38 cohort analyses.
- Audiences can be dynamic, progressive, or static, which keeps campaign measurement honest.
- Native audience sends to Klaviyo, Attentive, and Facebook, plus downloads for anything else.
- Broad data coverage: Shopify, Amazon, and Walmart orders, ad networks, email and SMS tools, survey tools, and major subscription platforms.
Limitations
- Starts at $179 to $199 a month, several times the price of the Shopify segmentation apps in this category.
- No native audience send to Google Ads or TikTok is documented.
- Shopify, Amazon, and Walmart only; WooCommerce and other platforms are not supported as stores.
- The seven-day trial covers only the past year of data.
Putler
Strengths
- Consolidates payment gateways, stores, marketplaces, and Google Analytics into one de-duplicated customer list, which no Shopify-only app in this category attempts.
- Eleven named RFM segments calculated automatically and redrawn every 24 hours, with segment membership for any date range.
- Works across PayPal, Stripe, WooCommerce, Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, Etsy, eBay, Amazon, Gumroad, and Easy Digital Downloads.
- Direct segment export to Mailchimp, plus CSV export for anything else.
Limitations
- No live audience sync to Klaviyo, Meta, Google Ads, or TikTok; activation is CSV and Mailchimp.
- RFM segments are fixed and automatic, with no documented way to change the scoring.
- Revenue-based pricing penalizes high-ticket businesses and climbs to $750 a month at $500,000 to $1 million in revenue.
- No published annual rate, and plan limits on data sources and history are not published per band.

Peel is expensive for a segmentation tool and reasonable for a retention analytics platform, and which one you are buying decides the verdict. If all you need is RFM segments and a live audience in Klaviyo, By the Numbers does it from $19 and Segments by Tresl from $149, and Peel at $199 month to month is paying for analysis you will not use. If the brand runs subscriptions, sells on Amazon as well as Shopify, and needs cohort lifetime value, subscription churn, and multi-touch attribution alongside the segments, Peel replaces several tools and a part-time analyst, and the $179 annual rate is modest for that. Metrilo, at $199 for a comparable entry and $379 for its segmentation tier, is the nearest like-for-like and does not push audiences into ad platforms. The seven-day trial on one year of data is short for judging a retention product, so arrive with the questions you want answered.

At the bottom of the market Putler is good value for a particular kind of business. A seller under $10,000 a month pays $20 for automatic RFM segments across every store and gateway it uses, data cleanup that the single-store apps never attempt, and sales and subscription reporting besides, which is about what By the Numbers charges for one Shopify store. The value case turns on activation and on scale. If segments need to reach Klaviyo, Meta, or Google Ads on their own, By the Numbers, Tresl, or Metorik do that and Putler does not. And because the meter is revenue rather than orders, a high-ticket business pays more than on Metorik, where $250 covers up to 5,000 orders; at $200,000 in monthly revenue Putler costs $350. The unresolved question of which bands include RFM, given older documentation, is worth settling in the trial.
Editorial verdict on each
Peel Insights
Peel Insights is the retention analyst's choice in this category rather than the marketer's. RFM segments on the home page, audiences built straight out of 38 cohort analyses, a choice between dynamic, progressive, and static lists, and sends to Klaviyo, Attentive, and Facebook make the segmentation genuinely useful, and they sit on top of Shopify, Amazon, subscription, and ad data that the cheaper apps never see. The price follows the scope: $179 a month on the annual rate at the very bottom, rising with order volume, which is poor value if all you want is a Klaviyo list and good value if it replaces a BI tool and a part-time analyst. The missing Google Ads and TikTok destinations, the short trial on one year of data, and the move from a founder-led startup to one product in the Relay Commerce portfolio are the things to weigh. Subscription and multi-channel brands with real order volume should trial it; a single Shopify store chasing cheap audience sync should start with By the Numbers.

Putler earns a place in this category for the business the Shopify apps cannot see: one that sells through several gateways, carts, and marketplaces and has never had a single, trustworthy customer list. It merges PayPal, Stripe, WooCommerce, Etsy, Amazon, and the rest into master records, then hands you eleven automatic RFM segments redrawn daily, saved and editable filters, and export to Mailchimp or CSV, for $20 a month under $10,000 in revenue. The limits are just as clear. There is no live audience sync to Klaviyo or the ad platforms, the RFM model cannot be tuned, revenue-based pricing gets expensive for high-ticket sellers, no annual rate is published, there are no refunds, and older help articles leave it unclear whether RFM is on every revenue band. Multi-channel sellers under a few hundred thousand dollars a month should trial it; single-store Shopify brands with a Klaviyo program should start with By the Numbers or Tresl.
